SENKA Perfect Whip in Japan: Regular, Collagen, White Clay or Premium Clear?

SENKA Perfect Whip blue fA, pink Collagen in CIN fA, white White Clay WC fA and silver Premium Clear PC tubes. Japan Drugstore Guides
Irene

I'm Irene, a Japanese-licensed pharmacist working in a Japanese drugstore. I was born in Taiwan and moved to Japan at around age 10. If the familiar blue SENKA tube has brought you to the shelf, the next step is to decide what you want from your face wash, rather than assume that a different colour means a stronger version.

Choose among these four Japanese tubes

For everyday cleansing with a moisturising finish, start by comparing regular Perfect Whip and Collagen in. White Clay focuses on pore dirt and plugs. Premium Clear is the only Japanese quasi-drug among the four below and contains an active ingredient for acne prevention.

Your main priorityTube and exact Japanese sales nameWhat distinguishes itCategory / size

A moisturised feel when post-wash dryness concerns youPink: センカ パーフェクトホイップ CIN fAWater-soluble collagen, glycerin, saccharide isomerate and royal-jelly extractCosmetic / 120 g

A rinse-off wash with a labelled acne-prevention claimSilver: SENKA パーフェクトホイップ PC / Premium ClearActive salicylic acid; washes away old surface keratin and pore dirtJapanese quasi-drug / 120 g

This comparison covers four 120 g Japanese tubes, not the entire SENKA range. Acne Care and the Speedy pump are different products. Names and formulas sold in Taiwan or other markets may also differ, so a familiar colour is only a starting point.

What each tube does, and what the name cannot promise

Regular Perfect Whip: the blue tube

Look for パーフェクトホイップ fA on the back. This is the basic moisturising option in this comparison. Its current formula lists glycerin and two hyaluronic-acid ingredients, alongside the cleansing ingredients.

The 2026 version also contains a guar derivative and tremella polysaccharide, the combination FineToday highlights for skin conditioning and foam performance. You do not need to memorise those names to choose it. The useful question is whether this type of fragranced, lathering wash leaves your skin comfortable after rinsing.

Collagen in: the pink tube

Collagen in CIN fA, 120 g. Its highlighted collagen and glycerin are moisturising ingredients. Image: FineToday.

Look for Collagen in on the front and CIN fA in the Japanese sales name. The highlighted moisturising components include water-soluble collagen with glycerin, plus saccharide isomerate and royal-jelly extract.

The brand has evaluated a cosmetic claim to make fine lines caused by dryness less noticeable. That is narrower than treating wrinkles. Collagen in a rinse-off wash should not be read as replenishing collagen deep in the skin or providing a lifting treatment.

If you have a known allergy to an ingredient, check the full list before buying. Royal-jelly extract is present in this formula; the product's allergy-testing statement is not a guarantee that every person can use it.

White Clay: the white tube

Look for White Clay / ホワイトクレイ, with WC fA on the back. In the current Japanese formula, the ingredient called “white clay” is mica. The maker also identifies polyglyceryl-6 dicaprate as an ingredient for removing pore plugs.

This is a cleansing-focused option for pore dirt and buildup. The brand defines its “poreless” wording as the skin's appearance after removing dirt, not permanent pore shrinkage. “White” in White Clay also does not give it a medicated whitening claim. Do not scrub harder or leave the foam on longer to chase either effect.

Premium Perfect Whip Clear: the silver tube

Premium Clear PC, 120 g: a Japanese quasi-drug with salicylic acid for acne prevention. Image: FineToday.

Look for PREMIUM Clear, the Japanese category 医薬部外品, and the sales name SENKA パーフェクトホイップ PC. Its active ingredient is salicylic acid, labelled for acne prevention. The full formula also lists ethanol and fragrance.

“Peeling wash” here means washing away old surface keratin and pore dirt. It is still a rinse-off face wash used by lathering and rinsing, not a leave-on acid or a professional peel. It does not promise to treat established acne. Persistent, painful or worsening breakouts deserve professional advice rather than more aggressive washing.

Important: Premium Clear's precautions say not to use it when you have eczema, dermatitis, irritation or erosion, because these may worsen. Stop if it causes a rash or irritation.

Check the Japanese version before buying a replacement

FineToday began rolling out the renewed series in March 2026. Regular, Collagen in and White Clay received formula changes; Premium Clear's change was outer packaging only. Packaging is being switched over gradually.

Irene's label-reading tip: match the complete name, the fA / CIN fA / WC fA / PC identifier and the 120 g size. A travel article about an older tube, a Taiwan-market cleanser or another SENKA range may describe a different formula. Do not transfer its ingredient claims or amount to the tube in your hand.

How much to use and how to wash

All four exact Japanese product pages give the same amount: about 2 cm of cleanser per wash. This is a length squeezed from the tube, not 2 g or a 2 cm layer spread across your face.

Official SENKA diagram of approximately 2 cm of cleanser in a palm
Use about 2 cm, add water or lukewarm water, lather and rinse thoroughly. Image: FineToday.
  1. Wet your hands and face.
  2. Put an appropriate amount, about 2 cm, in your palm.
  3. Add water or lukewarm water and lather well, then wash gently.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with water or lukewarm water. Close the cap securely afterwards.

These are rinse-off cleansers. Do not use the Collagen tube as a leave-on mask or let Premium Clear's foam sit like an acid treatment. The directions do not give a “stronger” routine for White Clay or Premium Clear. Avoid extra washes or rubbing simply because pores or blemishes bother you.

For makeup or sunscreen that requires a separate remover, follow that product's removal instructions. Do not assume these four face washes remove every waterproof makeup or sunscreen formula.

Fragrance, irritation and storage

  • All four list fragrance. Regular, Collagen in and White Clay are described as white-floral; Premium Clear has a herbal-fruity fragrance. None should be chosen as a fragrance-free option.
  • Stop if your skin reacts. The tube warnings say to watch for skin abnormalities, including pigment loss or darkening, and to stop and consult a dermatologist if the product does not agree with your skin.
  • Keep cleanser out of the eyes. Rinse promptly with water or lukewarm water if it gets in. Collagen in and White Clay specifically say not to rub and to consult an eye doctor if a foreign-body sensation remains.
  • Known allergies or skin treatment: check the ingredient list on the exact tube and ask a pharmacist or dermatologist if you are unsure about using it with your current skin care. “Allergy tested” does not mean allergy-free.
  • Storage: keep away from young children, direct sunlight and high temperatures. Do not leave the tube in the bathroom when using a bathroom dryer.

An ingredient list alone cannot rank these washes by pH, irritation risk or how “gentle” they will feel on your skin. It also does not tell us the percentage of salicylic acid in Premium Clear. Those figures should not be guessed.

A simple final choice

  • Mainly want everyday cleansing with moisture? Compare the blue regular tube with pink Collagen in by your preferred finish and ingredient tolerability.
  • Pore dirt and plugs are your main interest? White Clay is the cosmetic cleansing-focused option; use the normal amount and rinse it off.
  • Want the specific acne-prevention claim? Premium Clear is the salicylic-acid quasi-drug in this four-product comparison, provided its skin precautions fit your situation.

You do not need to buy all four or rotate through them to build a complete routine. Choose one suitable wash, check how your skin feels after rinsing, and keep the label's limits in view.
