フルグラ糖質オフ · 300 g / 550 g

Soy protein and grains with almond milk, crushed and sliced almonds, raisins and strawberry. Calbee describes a less-sweet taste; sugar is still an ingredient.

For your own toppings: Mygra

マイグラ · 670 g

Granola without dried-fruit toppings, described as gently sweet, toasted and crunchy. A good starting point if you dislike raisins or want to add your own fresh fruit.

Match the name, not just the colour: these are representative images currently shown on Calbee’s website. Calbee announced a gradual switch to two-colour printing for standard Frugra 330 g/700 g from the week of 25 May 2026, with no effect on product quality. Your shop’s bag may look different from the red illustration; check the full name フルグラ and weight.

Fruit, almonds or the granola itself?

Frugra puts fruit alongside the crunch. Calbee describes toasted grains with a crunchy bite and the sweetness and tartness of fruit. Along with four dried fruits, its ingredients include coconut, pumpkin seeds and almond powder. It is the straightforward choice when you want variety already in the bag.

Carb-Reduced changes the ingredient mix, too. Soy protein is its first ingredient. Almond milk goes into the baked base, while crushed and sliced almonds and pumpkin seeds add variety. Its dried fruits are raisins and strawberry. Calbee explains that almond milk in the baked base softens soy protein’s distinctive flavour. If almonds appeal to you, this is a useful place to start.

Mygra leaves the dried-fruit choice to you. Calbee describes a lightly sweet, toasted granola with a substantial crunch. You can skip picking out raisins and add banana or seasonal fruit yourself. It still contains coconut, almond powder and sugar; it is a sweetened granola rather than plain rolled oats.

What does 糖質オフ mean on a Japanese label?

糖質 is available carbohydrate: total carbohydrate minus dietary fibre. It includes starch and is broader than “sugars.” A figure of 31.7 g for 糖質 does not mean 31.7 g of sugar, and should not be translated into that weight of sugar cubes.

Calbee’s “30% off” statement compares this product with its standard Frugra. It is not a zero-carbohydrate claim. For your own serving, use the declared grams below. Every value is for 50 g of dry cereal, before milk, yoghurt or extra fruit.

Per 50 g dry cerealFrugraCarb-ReducedMygra
Energy221 kcal238 kcal224 kcal
Protein3.7 g9.3 g3.9 g
Fat7.8 g12.7 g8.5 g
Total carbohydrate36.2 g25.1 g35.5 g
Available carbohydrate (糖質)31.7 g18.2 g30.5 g
Dietary fibre4.5 g6.9 g5.0 g
Salt equivalent0.3 g0.2 g0.3 g

Carb-Reduced has less available carbohydrate and more protein and fibre, but its 238 kcal and 12.7 g fat per 50 g are the highest of these three. It is not a lower-calorie choice. Mygra also lists sugar as an ingredient; no dried fruit does not mean sugar-free.

Easy ways to make a breakfast bowl

  • For the quickest mixed bowl: add milk, yoghurt or soy drink to Frugra, with dried fruit already included.
  • For an almond-led combination: try Carb-Reduced with plain yoghurt, then decide whether you want extra fruit.
  • For a different topping each day: add banana or seasonal fruit to Mygra. You can also keep it simple with milk if you prefer no dried fruit.

Calbee says its cereal can also be eaten dry. For a meal, treat granola as the staple and combine it with other foods such as milk, yoghurt or soy drink. It does not provide every nutrient on its own, and additions change the whole bowl’s nutrition.

A simple 50 g weighing guide

Editorial illustration: 50 g is the label comparison and serving reference. Adjust the amount to your needs.

  1. 1. Tare the empty bowlPut an empty bowl on a kitchen scale, then press tare or zero.
  2. 2. Add dry cerealUse the same bowl and add cereal until the scale reads 50 g, before any milk.
  3. 3. Add your toppingsAdd milk, yoghurt or soy drink. Include those additions separately if tracking the whole bowl.

Shopping in Japan: check the weight and your plans

The current packs in this comparison are Frugra 330 g/700 g, Carb-Reduced 300 g/550 g and Mygra 670 g. Calbee announced that the smaller Frugra pack would change from 380 g to 330 g and Carb-Reduced from 350 g to 300 g on 9 February 2026, when the 670 g Mygra format also launched. Older travel articles and other markets may show different sizes.

At 50 g a time, Frugra 330 g gives six portions plus 30 g, and 700 g gives 14. Carb-Reduced 300 g gives six, and 550 g gives 11. Mygra 670 g gives 13 plus 20 g. These are simply pack-weight calculations. A smaller bag is an easier first purchase or short-trip option. Compare the price per 100 g rather than assuming the cheapest bag is best value.

All three are listed for sale across Japan, without a guarantee of stock at a particular shop. Calbee lists an eight-month best-before period; follow the actual date and storage conditions on your unopened bag. After opening, seal tightly, keep dry in a cool place at room temperature, and eat promptly. Calbee advises against refrigerator storage because condensation, firmer dried fruit and transferred odours may affect the cereal.

Allergens and crunchy pieces

  • Frugra: milk, wheat, almond and apple.
  • Carb-Reduced: milk, wheat, almond and soy.
  • Mygra: milk, wheat and almond.

These are Calbee’s declared ingredient allergens. Check the actual bag for shared-equipment warnings and other information. Adding a plant-based drink does not make the cereal dairy-free or nut-free.

Standard Frugra and Mygra are labelled from around age 3; Carb-Reduced is for ages 6 and over. Age alone is not enough: children need back teeth and the ability to chew thoroughly. Some pieces are hard, so supervise children and follow the specific pack’s guidance.

Three common shopping questions

Is Mygra particularly low in carbohydrate because it has no dried fruit?

Current Mygra contains 30.5 g available carbohydrate per 50 g, compared with 31.7 g in standard Frugra. Choose it for its no-dried-fruit format and the freedom to add your own toppings, rather than as the lower-carbohydrate formula.

Does Carb-Reduced guarantee weight loss or better blood glucose?

No. It is an ordinary food; portion size, toppings and the rest of your diet matter. If you need to manage carbohydrate for diabetes or another health condition, discuss your actual pack and usual portion with your doctor or dietitian.

What if my bag and this comparison do not match?

Check your bag’s full name, weight, ingredients and nutrition panel first. Calbee warns that renewals can cause differences between the website and packs. Products sold in other markets should not automatically be assigned these Japanese values.

For a snack that fits in your day bag without a bowl or spoon, see the Cream Genmai Bran flavour and inner-pack guide or the 1 Bon Manzoku cereal, protein and baked-bar comparison.

My shopping shortcut: Frugra for dried-fruit variety, Carb-Reduced for soy-and-almond ingredients with less available carbohydrate, or Mygra for your own toppings. Weigh a portion once at home, then build the breakfast you enjoy.
