atrix Beauty Charge vs Night Superior: Unscented Tube or Bedtime Jar?

Two atrix hand creams: Beauty Charge Unscented 80g on the left and Night Superior 98g bedtime care on the right. Choose by routine and fragrance. Japan Drugstore Guides

For a tube you can keep at your desk or in your bag without adding fragrance, start with atrix Beauty Charge Unscented 80g. For a richer bedtime routine, consider Beauty Charge Night Superior 98g—if you are happy with a scented cream. Decide when you will use it and whether you want fragrance before buying a “day and night” pair.

I’m Irene, a Taiwan-born, Japan-licensed pharmacist working in a Japanese drugstore. In this guide, I focus on matching the routine, fragrance and Japanese package name—not assuming that a richer cream is automatically better for everyone.

Japanese product information checked: October 21, 2026. This guide compares Beauty Charge Unscented 80g and Night Superior 98g in Dreamy Aroma fragrance only. It does not cover medicated, urea, Premium or other fragrance versions.

Which choice fits your routine?

You want no added fragrance and a portable tube

Beauty Charge Unscented 80g

Look for: ビューティーチャージ 無香料 80g

Kao positions Beauty Charge as a hand cream with a non-sticky feel suited to daytime use. The tube covered here is specifically marked 無香料 (unscented); that does not describe every fragrance in the range.

Buying decision: check the fragrance label first, then whether a tube suits your bag or desk. Feel varies with the amount used and personal preference; this is not a promise of zero residue on a phone screen.

You prefer taking time over hand care before bed

Beauty Charge Night Superior 98g

Look for: ビューティーチャージ ナイトスペリア 98g

Kao describes this as a rich bedtime cream containing moisturizing capsules. The version in this guide is ドリーミーアロマの香り (Dreamy Aroma). It is scented, not fragrance-free.

Buying decision: would you enjoy using a jar and working the cream in before bed? If fragrance on your hands bothers you, rule this version out before being persuaded by the “night care” label.

Irene’s decision order: fragrance preference first; bag or bedside second. If your existing hand cream already meets your moisturizing needs, there is no need to buy a second product just to complete a day-and-night set.

This is a routine comparison, not a moisturizing-power ranking

Both focus on moisturizing the hands, but their formulas and application steps are not identical. Night Superior contains capsules that break down as you work the cream in. They are not something to use as an exfoliating scrub.

We have not measured either product’s moisturizing duration, phone-screen residue or overnight results. We therefore do not claim that one is always more effective. Where Kao describes penetration, it means the stratum corneum—the outermost skin layer—not deeper skin tissue.

Do not confuse Night Superior with the similarly named Beauty Charge Premium “シワ改善” product. These two creams are not substitutes for the brand’s medicated range, and this guide is not about treating eczema or skin fissures.

Three checks to avoid buying the wrong Japanese version

  1. Read the range name. Look for ビューティーチャージ on the tube and the full ナイトスペリア name on the jar. Green packaging alone is not enough.
  2. Check the fragrance. This comparison uses the 無香料 tube and ドリーミーアロマの香り jar. Other scents exist, so do not rely only on a shortened marketplace listing.
  3. Match the size and directions. The products here are 80g and 98g. Packaging and stock can differ between Japanese and overseas sellers; follow the label on the product you actually buy.

If you only want one, start with the unscented tube when avoiding added fragrance is your priority. Consider Night Superior when a scented bedtime cream fits your preferences. That is a practical choice based on your routine, not a universal winner.

How to apply them

  • Beauty Charge Unscented: apply an appropriate amount to your hands, fingertips and nails, as directed by Kao.
  • Night Superior: work an appropriate amount over your hands, fingertips and nails with a massage-like motion until the capsules break down and the cream is spread evenly. This is a leave-on cream; do not copy the rinse-off instructions for the separate atrix Hand Milk product.

Start with a time you are likely to remember rather than creating an elaborate routine. The unscented tube can also live by your bed: being suited to daytime use does not mean it can only be used during the day. Nor is the night jar an essential extra step for everyone.

Do not apply over cuts, swelling or eczema

Both product labels say not to use on abnormal areas such as wounds, swelling or eczema. Stop and consult a dermatologist if you develop redness, swelling, itching, irritation, pale patches or darkening during use or after sun exposure; continued use may worsen the problem. Store safely to prevent accidental ingestion by children or people with cognitive impairment.

“Unscented” helps you choose a fragrance preference; it does not guarantee suitability for every skin condition. If you already have cracks, bleeding or persistent discomfort, do not make the decision simply by picking the richest cream. Ask a pharmacist or doctor to help assess the problem.

The short answer

Want an unscented tube for everyday use? Start with Beauty Charge Unscented 80g. Prefer a scented cream to work in before bed? Consider Night Superior 98g. Buying one product that fits your routine and the current condition of your hands is more useful than collecting a complete range.
