Try pink SP+ aa for a rosy-looking finish, or beige BE+ ca for natural-looking correction of visible spots and uneven tone. Both Japanese ELIXIR Day Care Revolution Tone Up products are 35 g tinted daytime facial emulsions (lightweight facial moisturizers) with SPF50+ and PA++++. Apply after morning toner as your final skin-care step; foundation can follow.
Choose the finish you like when you use enough product. “Tone up” describes an immediate makeup effect, not a treatment that removes dark spots or changes your natural skin colour.
Identify the two Japanese Tone Up tubes
This comparison covers エリクシール デーケアレボリューション トーンアップ in Baby Pink and Pure Beige. Retailers may translate the name differently. For a Japanese purchase, keep the full suffix and 35 g size on your shopping list rather than relying on the gold cap.

Pink: SP+ aa / ベビーピンク

- Full name: エリクシール デーケアレボリューション トーンアップ SP+ aa.
- Colour: Baby Pink; 35 g.
- Barcode: 4909978195939.
- Japanese launch: 21 February 2024.
Shiseido describes the pink version as visually correcting dullness and shadows while adding a rosy tone. It is the starting point to try if you want a little pink warmth in the finish.
Beige: BE+ ca / ピュアベージュ

- Full name: エリクシール デーケアレボリューション トーンアップ BE + ca.
- Colour: Pure Beige; 35 g.
- Barcode: 4909978265755.
- Japanese launch: 21 March 2026.
The beige version is positioned to visually soften spots, uneven colour and shadows with a natural-looking tint. It is worth trying for that effect, but do not expect guaranteed concealer-level coverage of every mark.
Look for トーンアップ and 35 g. These two tinted emulsions are cosmetics. The untinted Day Care Revolution emulsions, medicated brightening products and smaller wrinkle-care tubes nearby are separate products.
Choose by the finish on your skin
Use the maker’s positioning to narrow the choice: pink for a rosy effect; beige for skin-toned correction. If a hygienic store tester is available, follow the store’s testing instructions and check the result in more natural light, including how it relates to your neck. The palest-looking swatch on your hand is not necessarily the finish you will enjoy wearing.
Each version has one tint, rather than a full foundation shade range. Neither name guarantees a match for every skin tone. If enough product looks too pale, pink or heavy, do not solve that by applying a tiny amount of sunscreen. Consider a sunscreen finish that suits you better, with separate makeup if wanted.
Irene’s tip: A tinted daytime emulsion can simplify your final morning step by combining moisturizing, sun protection and a makeup base. Choose by the colour and feel you can comfortably apply evenly. Beige being newer does not make pink outdated or weaker.
Where it goes, and how much to use
Morning toner → Tone Up emulsion → optional foundation. Japanese “lotion” in these directions refers to the watery skin-care step often called toner, not a body lotion. The Tone Up product is left on the skin.
- After morning toner, dispense a portion about 1 cm in diameter into your palm.
- Spread evenly over the whole face as the last step of your morning skin care.
- Follow with foundation if you want more coverage. Foundation is optional.
The 1 cm instruction describes the diameter of the dispensed portion, not a 1 cm-long ribbon from the nozzle. Too little product reduces UV protection. This is the maker’s face application guide; dividing the same small portion across your face, neck, ears and arms does not establish adequate coverage for every area.
SPF50+ and PA++++ do not mean one morning application lasts until bedtime. Shiseido’s general sunscreen guidance recommends reapplication about every 2–3 hours, with additional attention after sweating or wiping product off. If you wear makeup, plan a practical way to refresh sun protection during the day.
The formulas differ as well as the colours
Both ingredient lists include ethanol and fragrance, with an aqua-floral scent. If you avoid either ingredient, choosing a different colour will not solve that concern.
Beige lists 2-O-ethyl ascorbic acid, a vitamin C derivative described by the brand as a product antioxidant, as well as licorice flavonoids. Pink instead has ingredients including olive-leaf extract, coix-seed extract and hydrolyzed conchiolin.
If you have a known ingredient allergy, select the correct colour in the manufacturer’s full ingredient information and compare it with your own package. Shiseido says the products are allergy-tested, while making clear that this does not guarantee everyone will be free of allergic reactions.
Does it need makeup remover?
Used on its own, Tone Up can be removed with facial cleanser or soap, according to Shiseido. If you add water-resistant foundation, concealer or other makeup, follow those products’ removal instructions too. The emulsion’s cleanser-removable claim does not automatically cover everything layered over it.
Wipe the tube opening clean after use and close the cap firmly. Keep away from direct sunlight and high temperatures. Rinse immediately if it enters your eyes. If it gets on clothes, wash promptly and carefully with detergent; the maker warns against chlorine bleach because it may turn the stain pink.
Common questions
Does newer beige have stronger sun protection?
Both carry SPF50+ and PA++++. The different launch dates and tints do not establish stronger protection for beige. Adequate, even application and reapplication remain important.
Can it replace a dark-spot serum?
The spot and dullness correction here is a makeup effect. If persistent pigmentation is your concern, look into appropriate skin care or clinical advice rather than treating an immediate change in appearance as evidence that a spot has faded.
How long does one tube last?
Shiseido estimates about two months when used according to the directions. That is a consumption estimate, not a guaranteed opened-product shelf life. How often you reapply and how much you use will affect it.
A short shopping checklist
- Rosy finish: SP+ aa / ベビーピンク.
- Natural beige correction: BE+ ca / ピュアベージュ.
- For either, check トーンアップ, 35 g, SPF50+ and PA++++.
- Choose a tint you like at an adequate amount, then follow the roughly 1 cm-diameter whole-face application guide.
