UHA Iron Gummies in Japan: Iron, Iron & Folic Acid or Iron + Hyaluronic Acid?

Japanese UHA Iron, Iron & Folic Acid and Iron + Hyaluronic Acid packs Japan Drugstore Guides

Two gummies a day can mean 22 mg, 10 mg or 6.8 mg of iron in these three UHA products. The version simply called “Iron” also contains 240 μg of folic acid, the same as “Iron & Folic Acid.” First decide whether you need extra iron, then compare daily amounts, gelatin and flavour rather than choosing by pack colour.

Irene

I’m Irene, a Taiwan-born, Japan-licensed pharmacist working in a Japanese drugstore. With an easy-to-eat gummy supplement, I would start by checking the suggested serving and the iron tablets, multivitamins or folic acid products you already use.

Information checked on 13 October 2026. This guide compares three Japanese UHA Gummy Supplement products for adult shopping decisions: 鉄, 鉄&葉酸 and 鉄+ヒアルロン酸. It does not cover the entire range. Formulas, sizes and packaging can change; check the product in your hand.

Three differences to check before buying

  • Want a formula with folic acid and less iron than the “Iron” version? Compare Iron & Folic Acid. Two gummies provide 10 mg of iron and 240 μg of folic acid, with an açaí-mix flavour. It does not contain more folic acid than “Iron,” and the name alone does not make it a suitable pregnancy supplement.
  • Already know a higher iron amount is appropriate for you? Compare Iron. Two grape-flavoured gummies provide 22 mg of iron and 240 μg of folic acid. That is the product’s content, not everyone’s supplementation target. If you do not know whether you need iron, ask a doctor or pharmacist first.
  • Want to avoid gelatin and prefer lychee? Check Iron + Hyaluronic Acid. Two gummies contain 6.8 mg of iron and 60 mg of hyaluronic acid; gelatin is not listed in its ingredients. Its “100% plant-based” statement excludes food additives, so it is not a complete vegan certification.
  • Not sure you need iron, or already taking iron medicine? Pause before adding a bag. Extra supplementation may be unnecessary if your diet meets your needs. Do not replace anaemia treatment with gummies or add them to treatment on your own.

What is in the two-gummy daily serving?

Every amount below is for each product’s suggested daily serving of two gummies. Iron and Iron & Folic Acid use a standard serving weight of 5 g; Iron + Hyaluronic Acid uses 8 g. These are adult-product servings, not children’s doses.

Japanese product Iron per 2 gummies/day Folic acid per 2 gummies/day Other listed amounts per 2 gummies/day
鉄 / Iron 22.0 mg 240 μg Collagen 300 mg
鉄&葉酸 / Iron & Folic Acid 10.0 mg 240 μg Collagen 300 mg
鉄+ヒアルロン酸 / Iron + Hyaluronic Acid 6.8 mg No amount listed Hyaluronic acid 60 mg; dietary fibre 0.6 g

Iron content is the main nutritional difference between “Iron” and “Iron & Folic Acid.” Their listed folic acid and collagen amounts are identical. Iron + Hyaluronic Acid does not declare a folic acid amount, so do not treat it as an equivalent folic acid replacement. These ingredient figures do not establish comparative effects on anaemia, appearance or skin hydration.

Nutrient phrases such as “1日分の葉酸” (a day’s folic acid) or “1日分の鉄” (a day’s iron), and percentages beside nutrient amounts, use nutrition-labelling reference values. They differ from “20日分,” which means 20 days of supply. These reference values are not calculated for your diet, age or health, and do not mean everyone needs that much extra each day.

These three products are foods/supplements, with no medicine indication for treating anaemia. UHA also sells other products labelled as Foods with Function Claims; that status does not apply automatically to every gummy in the brand. Collagen or hyaluronic acid content alone does not establish a skin benefit.

How to eat them

  1. Check the full product name and any other iron or folic acid supplements you have taken today.
  2. Follow that product’s two-gummy daily serving and chew thoroughly before swallowing. Avoid casually eating more as you would ordinary sweets.
  3. Close the pouch or bottle securely and return it to a place children cannot reach.

UHA says its supplements are foods and can fit your preferred time of day. These three do not require bedtime use. If you take medicine, ask a doctor or pharmacist about suitability and timing; do not apply an arbitrary separation interval yourself.

Avoid doubling up on iron

Check iron tablets, prenatal supplements, multivitamins and iron-fortified foods together. Taking two Iron gummies plus two Iron & Folic Acid gummies would provide 32 mg of iron and 480 μg of folic acid from those products alone, before food or other supplements. This calculation illustrates duplication; it is neither a recommended regimen nor a safe upper limit.

Japan’s HFNet warns that excessive iron from supplements or fortified foods can cause problems including constipation and gastrointestinal upset. Tiredness alone does not establish iron deficiency, and taking more is not a shortcut to results. If you suspect iron deficiency or have been told you have anaemia, first establish the cause and an appropriate treatment plan.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and children

All three products say to consult a doctor before use if taking medicine, receiving medical care, pregnant or breastfeeding. If planning pregnancy or already taking prenatal vitamins, also check total folic acid and iron intake. A 240 μg folic acid label does not establish that this product meets every pregnancy-related supplementation need.

The individual Iron 22 mg product warning explicitly says infants and children should avoid it. Do not improvise children’s portions for the other two either; UHA’s general guidance describes these as adult products. Keep all three out of children’s reach and separate from ordinary sweets. Accidental excessive intake of iron supplements can be dangerous for young children.

Check gelatin, apple and carbohydrate content

Energy and carbohydrate amounts below are for each product’s suggested daily serving of two gummies.

Product Declared allergens Energy per 2 gummies/day Carbohydrate per 2 gummies/day
Iron Apple, gelatin 17 kcal 4.0 g
Iron & Folic Acid Apple, gelatin 17 kcal 4.0 g
Iron + Hyaluronic Acid Apple 26 kcal 6.7 g

These figures are again for two gummies per day. Iron + Hyaluronic Acid further lists 6.1 g of available carbohydrate (糖質) and 0.6 g of dietary fibre. The other two do not split out available carbohydrate, so do not describe their entire 4.0 g carbohydrate content as sugar. Include the serving in any carbohydrate-controlled eating plan.

The first two contain collagen and declare gelatin. If avoiding animal gelatin, start with the lychee version’s full ingredients. For strict vegan, religious-diet or allergy requirements, ask the manufacturer rather than relying on the plant-based headline alone. Stop taking the product if it does not agree with you and seek medical advice as appropriate.

Two final checks before taking them home

  • Look at the days of supply, 日分. At two gummies daily, 20 days means 40 gummies, 30 days means 60, and 14 days means 28. Compare price divided by labelled days. The brand website and official shop may offer different sizes, and individual shops may not carry them all.
  • Avoid heat and finish promptly after opening. UHA warns that heat can soften, deform or stick the gummies together. It also warns that gummies may dislodge dental restorations, so take care when chewing.

My shopping approach is: decide whether you need iron, compare 22 mg, 10 mg or 6.8 mg, then check folic acid, gelatin and flavour. Choose a product that fits an actual need; there is no reason to collect the colours and add their iron together.
