arau.baby Bottle Cleaner: 500 mL Pump and 450/900 mL Refills

Two different arau.baby products: foaming bottle-and-dish cleaner in a 500 mL pump bottle, and foaming straw-cup cleaner in a 150 mL bottle. Japan Drugstore Guides
Left: 泡ほ乳びん食器洗い, 500 mL bottle (25884). Right: 泡ストローマグ洗い, 150 mL bottle (25972), a different product, not a smaller pack of the bottle cleaner. Check each product’s own uses and directions. Not to scale. Volumes are pack contents, not amounts per use. The bottle cleaner’s 450 mL and 900 mL refills are not pictured; a 900 mL pouch is not an instruction to pour it all into a 500 mL bottle. For arau.baby bottle cleaner, look for the full name “泡ほ乳びん食器洗い”. The 500 mL pump bottle and 450 mL and 900 mL refills are different packs of the same product. “泡ストローマグ洗い” is a separate straw-cup cleaner. Washing a feeding bottle does not automatically disinfect it.

Irene

I’m Irene, a Taiwanese pharmacist practising in Japan. Let’s use the Japanese product names and directions to work out which bottle and refill belong together.

Japanese official information checked on 23 October 2026 (Japan time). This guide focuses on the bottle-and-dish cleaner and its two refill sizes, with a short distinction from the straw-cup cleaner. It does not compare international formulations or disinfectants.

Compare the pack type before the volume

泡ほ乳びん食器洗い: bottle and refill packs
PackProduct codeWhat to check
500 mL bottle25884Includes the foaming pump. Check whether you need the bottle if you do not already have it.
450 mL refill25885For the matching bottle, not a stand-alone pump pack.
900 mL refill25962Twice the 450 mL refill volume, not an instruction to pour it all into a 500 mL bottle.

Listed uses include feeding bottles, teats, pacifiers, baby-food dishes, toys and cooking utensils. The product is classified as 台所用石けん, a kitchen cleaning soap, not a baby body wash. It is mildly alkaline and lists 10% pure soap content as potassium salts of fatty acids. “Fragrance-free” and “additive-free” do not mean edible, suitable for bathing or rinse-free. Check the official brand page for the labelled uses and composition.

Follow the bottle cleaner’s own washing sequence

  1. Rinse the bottle lightly, then dispense foam inside; 1–2 pumps is the manufacturer’s usage guide.
  2. Clean with a bottle brush or similar suitable tool, then rinse under running water.
  3. Remove the teat, cap and other parts and wash and rinse them separately.

For dishes, first rinse away loose dirt, add a suitable amount and wash with a damp, lightly squeezed kitchen sponge before rinsing. The precautions specify at least five seconds under running water for dishes and cooking utensils. Disappearing bubbles are not a substitute for rinsing, and this is not a guarantee that every shape or amount of dirt takes exactly five seconds. See SARAYA’s directions.

Cleaning and disinfection are separate decisions

SARAYA’s FAQ explicitly says this bottle-and-dish cleaner has no disinfecting effect and recommends disinfecting after washing during early infancy. Check the instructions for the bottle, teat and disinfection product when choosing a method. Do not treat washing soap as disinfectant or improvise stronger concentrations or longer soaking to replace disinfection.

The straw-cup cleaner is not a smaller bottle of the same product

アラウ.ベビー 泡ストローマグ洗い comes in a 150 mL bottle with a 140 mL refill. Its nozzle fits against a straw; the directions include leaving the foam for about one minute before rinsing under running water. Some straws may not fit, and heavy dirt may require a sponge. Do not transfer this timing to the 500 mL bottle cleaner simply because both say arau.baby. The straw-cup cleaner’s official instructions describe its own uses and method.

If you are replacing the cleaner in your 500 mL pump, match “泡ほ乳びん食器洗い”. If you want to clean a straw cup, check the other product’s nozzle, intended items and instructions. This guide does not rank either one as safer or more powerful.

Check refilling and storage before buying a larger pouch

SARAYA specifies the same named bottle-and-dish cleaner for refilling its pump; other products may prevent foaming or damage the pump. A photograph of the full name is more useful than remembering the brand, colour or size. Follow your bottle and pouch for refilling and fill level, without mixing in other products.

The 900 mL pack is the manufacturer’s larger refill option. Whether it suits you depends on consumption and storage space. The storage FAQ says to use opened product promptly; it does not give a universal number of months after opening. Keep bottles and pouches beyond children’s reach, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. A larger pack is not a reason to build up more stock than you need.

Precautions worth reading before use

  • Materials: do not use on lacquerware or anodised aluminium (アルマイト), which may discolour.
  • Hands: the label calls for kitchen gloves if your hands are prone to irritation or when using the undiluted product. Rinse your hands after use. Skin-irritation testing does not guarantee that nobody will react.
  • Eyes: immediately rinse with running water for at least 15 minutes. The bottle cleaner also specifies removing contact lenses. If abnormalities remain, take the product to a specialist doctor.
  • Skin contact: promptly wash off the liquid thoroughly with water; seek medical advice if abnormalities remain.
  • Swallowing: if a young child swallows the product, keep its packaging and obtain immediate, individual advice from medical or poison-information professionals. Do not turn the general label’s drinking-water measure into an instruction to force a young child to drink.

Before checkout, confirm the intended use, full name, matching pump and refill size, rather than choosing solely because the pack says “baby” or “additive-free”.
