Heavy Rotation EX and Micro both colour eyebrow hairs. Start with the area you find difficult to coat, then choose a shade direction that works with your hair and intended look.

EX or Micro?

Coloring Eyebrow EX

Heavy Rotation EX 04 Natural Brown package

The current Japanese EX contains 8g and uses a compact brush with a short bristled section and a longer shaft. For an overall brow-colour change, start by comparing its shade directions and whether the brush suits how you work. EX is itself compact; it would be misleading to describe it simply as a large brush that necessarily coats skin.

Coloring Eyebrow Micro

Heavy Rotation Micro 04 Natural Brown package

Micro contains 4g and is positioned as an ultra-fine brush within the brand. Its official description focuses on precise areas, including the brow tail and densely packed hairs at the front. This makes it worth comparing if control in small areas is your main concern, not a guarantee that it can never touch skin.

Use hair colour as a starting point

Consider how light or dark your hair is and whether you prefer a warmer brown or a cooler direction. Then decide whether you want the brows to blend in or look softer. For example, the Micro guide places 04 Natural Brown with dark-brown to black hair and 08 Ash Gray with black hair. Black hair therefore does not dictate one universal shade.

Check both EX versus Micro and the shade number. Screens and other people’s swatches cannot promise your result. Limited shades and limited packaging are not permanent availability commitments, and an old review may describe an earlier product.

Pencil first, brow mascara afterward

  1. If using brow pencil, powder or liquid, apply those first.
  2. Brush against the hair direction from the arch toward the front.
  3. Then brush from the front toward the tail to arrange the hairs. Micro’s instructions also suggest following the hair direction for fine hairs such as those at the tail.
  4. If adding a second coat, do so before the first dries rather than repeatedly building a thick layer.

Removal depends on the whole brow routine

Both are film-type products described as removable with lukewarm water. When combined with other eyebrow makeup, the brand recommends a makeup cleanser. The mascara’s warm-water removal claim does not automatically apply to a pencil or liquid underneath.

These products are for eyebrows, not eyelashes. EX and Micro have different formulas, and ingredient lists can also vary by shade. If you have known ingredient reactions, check the complete list on your own product rather than relying on a brow-care ingredient claim.

Basic precautions while using brow makeup

Alongside the eyebrow-only restriction, general cosmetic precautions apply. Stop using the product if redness, swelling, itching, irritation, pale patches or darkening appear during or after use. Wash it off with water or lukewarm water and seek dermatology advice promptly. Do not cover a reaction with another layer and keep using it.

Keep the product out of your eyes. If it gets in, do not rub: rinse thoroughly with water or lukewarm water. Seek eye-care advice if pain, blurred vision or a foreign-body sensation remains. Keep the product and ingredient label to show the clinician. These are general cosmetic recommendations from the Japan Cosmetic Industry Association; also read and follow the precautions on your own pack.
