Irene — I’m Irene, a Taiwan-born, Japan-licensed pharmacist. This guide explains Japanese product labels and selection points, not a personal wear test.
Choose GATSBY facial wipes by intended area first, then cooling preference. Regular, Ice and Moist are different options for feel and moisture care, not a ranking of treatment strength.
Find the face label first
GATSBY also sells Body Paper. Look for 顔用 or フェイシャルペーパー rather than relying on a blue pack or the word Ice. This comparison covers the current Japanese 42-sheet Regular, Ice and Moist packs. The separate medicated Acne Care product is not included; its bactericidal claim is not transferred to these three.
Which version fits your preference?
Regular: the standard cool option

The Japanese name is simply フェイシャルペーパー. The brand describes its cooling level as Cool and its scent as Fresh Aqua. It is a starting point when you want to wipe away sweat, oil and dirt without specifically seeking the strongest cooling sensation.
Ice: a stronger cooling preference

Look for アイスタイプ. This Fresh Aqua version is labelled Super Cool. Choose it for that sensory preference, not because a stronger sensation means stronger treatment or disinfection.
Moist: the moisture-care option

Look for モイストタイプ and the Citrus Shabon scent. The brand uses the feel description メントールマイルド (Menthol Mild). Its catalog lists hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid for moisturizing and hydrolyzed collagen for skin conditioning, and describes removing oil while preserving needed moisture. The current catalog ingredient list does not name menthol, but does list ethanol and fragrance. Do not turn a mild-feel description or an unlisted ingredient into a guarantee of suitability for sensitive skin or a known ingredient reaction.
A short shelf check
- Read the intended area: face rather than body.
- Match the full name, scent and cooling level instead of choosing by pack colour alone.
- Check your own pack’s ingredient list if you have known ingredient reactions. All three official lists name ethanol and fragrance; Regular and Ice also name menthol. Match the pack’s sales name (販売名) to the catalog: ギャツビー フェイシャルペーパーW, ギャツビー フェイシャルペーパー アイスタイプT or ギャツビー フェイシャルペーパー モイストタイプS.
Do not assume these wipes are acne treatments or makeup removers just because the pack says facial cleansing. A cotton sheet does not guarantee irritation-free use.
Do not keep wiping through a reaction
Mandom’s general cosmetic precautions say not to use products on wounds, swelling or eczema. Stop use if redness, swelling, itching, irritation, pale patches or darkening occurs during use or when treated skin is exposed to direct sunlight. Mandom recommends consulting a dermatologist rather than continuing use.
The Japan Cosmetic Industry Association’s general cosmetic guidance says to keep cosmetics out of the eyes. If contact occurs, do not rub; rinse immediately with water or lukewarm water. These are common cosmetic precautions, not a transcription of these three packs.
Before use, read your own pack’s directions and cautions. 顔用 (for the face) is not a reason to assume suitability for the eyes, lips or mucous membranes. Follow the pack’s specified areas and method; this comparison does not provide instructions for those areas.
