RiUP Regenne Plus Explained: What Is New, How the Ingredients Work and What the Trial Shows

What is new about Regenne Plus is not a higher minoxidil concentration for women. Launched in Japan on September 14, 2026, リアップリジェンヌプラス still contains 1% minoxidil. The change is in its supporting ingredients for scalp condition and prevention of hair-loss progression. Understanding those different jobs is more useful than reading “Plus” as “stronger.”

This is a Japanese Class 1 OTC medicine: receive a pharmacist’s explanation when buying it. This guide concerns the current Japanese 60mL product. It is not a self-diagnosis chart or a suggestion that every woman can use it. Do not buy it to experiment with unexplained, sudden or patchy hair loss.

Identify the current product: Plus, 1%, 60mL

The official photograph shows the current 60mL box and bottle. Look for プラス / Plus in the name. Older Regenne and its eco-packaging may still appear in official information or shops: a different photograph does not by itself establish a counterfeit, and the old formula should not be presented as the new one. Shampoos in the wider range are not this hair-regrowth medicine.

One regrowth ingredient and four supporting ingredients—not five times the effect

Hair passes through growth, transition and resting stages. The Japanese leaflet explains that the growth stage becomes shorter in androgenetic hair loss, leaving hairs finer and shorter. Minoxidil acts directly on hair follicles, promoting cell proliferation and protein synthesis. This relates to the product’s approved indications: hair regrowth, hair growth and prevention of hair-loss progression. It is not merely a cosmetic effect on the surface of existing hairs, nor does it remove the underlying cause of this hair loss.

The other four active ingredients have different jobs. These are amounts per 100mL—not the amount to apply at once:

  • Minoxidil 1.0g: hair regrowth, hair growth and prevention of hair-loss progression.
  • Panthenol 1.0g: supplies nutrients to the scalp and hair cells to maintain a healthy scalp.
  • Pyridoxine hydrochloride 0.05g: regulates amino-acid and protein metabolism to maintain a healthy scalp.
  • Tocopherol acetate 0.08g: helps maintain scalp health through actions including preventing sebum oxidation and promoting blood circulation.
  • l-Menthol 0.3g: suppresses scalp itching and provides a cooling sensation; the strength of that sensation is not a measure of regrowth.

The two newly included ingredients are panthenol and pyridoxine hydrochloride. The older Regenne’s pantothenyl ethyl ether and the new panthenol are not the same ingredient name: the change is not simply the old three supporting ingredients plus two more. Current Plus contains minoxidil plus four supporting actives. Additives such as sodium hyaluronate should not be counted as extra hair-regrowth active ingredients.

A growth, transition and rest cycle shows the follicle context of minoxidil; a separate area distinguishes four supporting ingredients, including two newly included ones.
The hair cycle is a concept, not a diagnostic chart or a prediction of stage duration or personal regrowth speed. Minoxidil acts on follicles; the four supporting ingredients have the distinct roles described by the manufacturer, not equal added hair counts. Two newly included ingredients do not establish superior regrowth over the older product, and cooling is not an efficacy measure. Suitability, dosing and stopping for adverse effects still require the instructions below, the pharmacist and full leaflet.

A clinical trial is not automatically a trial showing that the new blend is better

The women’s 1% trial displayed on the official site concerns the earlier product RiUP Lady. The site separately states that biological equivalence between Plus and Lady has been confirmed. Do not read that predecessor trial as a direct comparison proving that the two newly included ingredients make Plus grow more hair than older Regenne.

The useful discovery in this launch is the division of roles—not a promise of faster or greater regrowth. This guide does not rank results from different products or trials, or draw an expected personal hair-count or speed curve. Results vary and the medicine does not work for everyone. Continued use is needed to maintain its effect; after stopping, hair gradually returns towards its previous state.

Bring your hair-loss history and medicines to the pharmacist

Bring details of medicines, scalp products and allergies. Explain when the hair loss began, whether it was sudden or localised, and any connection with pregnancy, childbirth or stopping contraceptive pills. Use the official purchase checklist with the pharmacist; ticking boxes yourself does not establish suitability.

Do not use in these circumstances

  • A previous allergy to this product or its ingredients; men; anyone under 20.
  • Pregnancy, suspected pregnancy or breastfeeding; hair loss associated with pregnancy or childbirth; hair loss after stopping contraceptive pills.
  • Hair loss other than androgenetic hair loss, or of unknown cause—for example associated with thyroid disease, rapid dieting or alopecia areata; loss across the entire head including the sides and back; sudden or patchy loss; or loss caused by hairstyles that pull tightly on the scalp.
  • Do not apply to a scalp with wounds, eczema or inflammation/redness. Use only on the scalp; never swallow it.

The purchase checklist also directs people losing hair elsewhere, such as the eyebrows, not to use it and to consult. Neither this article nor a scalp diagram can diagnose the type of hair loss.

Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use

This applies to previous allergies to other medicines or cosmetics; high or low blood pressure; heart or kidney disorders; swelling; no family or sibling history of androgenetic hair loss; age 65 or over; or diagnosed thyroid dysfunction. If hair loss is more extensive than the official leaflet’s indication illustrations, do not decide suitability yourself—consult first. The purchase checklist specifically recommends refraining from use when currently being treated for high/low blood pressure or having a heart disorder such as angina; anyone considering use must consult first. Do not stop prescribed treatment yourself.

While using this product, avoid applying other hair-growth products or topical medicines, including ointments and liquids, to the scalp. If using those products, stop this one and confirm the plan rather than layering them yourself.

The 100mL ingredient panel and a 1mL application answer different questions

For adult women aged 20 and over: apply 1mL twice daily to the scalp affected by hair loss. Do not increase the amount for a larger area. Using more or applying it more often does not improve the effect and can increase the risk of adverse effects. Separate applications—for example morning and evening. “Plus” is not a reason to apply it more frequently.

The container measures 1mL. Follow all four container steps on printed pages 9–10 of the current official leaflet; do not dismantle it, decant it or guess the dose from a number of presses. Apply after the hair has dried sufficiently, parting the hair so the liquid reaches the scalp rather than just coating the hair.

Avoid eye contact. If it enters the eyes, rinse immediately with water or lukewarm water; obtain ophthalmic care for severe symptoms. Wash liquid off the hands and avoid touching the eyes or other mucous membranes. Keep it off items that alcohol may damage, such as spectacle frames and synthetic fibres. Apply styling products after it has dried; let it dry before putting on a wig or hairpiece too. Wash it out before colouring or perming, and finish the colouring/perming completely before applying it again. A wounded or inflamed scalp remains unsuitable.

Six months is an effectiveness assessment—not a waiting period for adverse effects

Hair growth takes time. The leaflet uses at least six months of daily use as directed to assess the effect. If none of the degree of hair loss, appearance of new fine/soft hairs, growth of thicker hairs or degree of shedding improves after six months, stop and consult a doctor or pharmacist with the leaflet. Six months does not guarantee success, or mean that everyone should start a six-month trial themselves.

Do not wait six months for scalp rash/redness (which may also occur elsewhere), itching, dermatitis, dandruff or warmth at the application site; headache, feeling faint or dizziness; chest pain or a rapid heartbeat; unexplained rapid weight gain or swelling of the hands/feet. Stop immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist with the leaflet.

Also stop and consult if hair loss worsens or becomes widespread across the head, affects hair elsewhere, becomes patchy or starts suddenly. Do not assume worsening is an unavoidable stage that you should push through.

Keep the original bottle and the leaflet

Close the cap after use and store in a cool place away from direct sunlight, high temperatures and cold, out of children’s reach. Do not transfer to another container. Keep away from fire and do not use after expiry. This is a pre-purchase reading aid, not a replacement for the pharmacist or complete enclosed instructions.

For the initial choice between men’s and women’s products and the distinction from haircare, return to the RiUP X5 Charge and Regenne Plus comparison. This standalone guide focuses on reading the new Plus formulation and its evidence.
