FANCL Powder vs Foaming Face Wash in Japan: Dates and Refills

Choosing between FANCL Washing Powder and Pure Moist Foaming Wash also means choosing an opening-date and bottle-care routine. The powder’s stated period after opening is 60 days; the foam’s is 120 days. The foam bottle has a refill limit, too.[1][2]

Irene

I’m Irene, a Taiwanese pharmacist licensed in Japan. This guide explains Japanese product information; it is not a hands-on product test.

Sources checked on 23 October 2026, Japan time. This guide covers the Japanese Washing Powder 50g and Pure Moist Foaming Wash 150mL. The 130mL refill appears only to explain bottle care. It excludes enzyme powders, Pure Smooth, limited packaging and cleansing oils.

Match the name before the format

洗顔パウダー — Washing Powder, 50g

Item 3733-01. You make the lather yourself; FANCL gives one teaspoon as the amount guide. This is the basic powder, not the separately named Deep Clear Washing Powder.[1][3]

ピュアモイスト 泡洗顔料 — Pure Moist Foaming Wash, 150mL

Bottle item 3730-41 dispenses foam, with 3–4 pumps as the amount guide. The 130mL refill is item 3730-51. A FANCL logo alone does not establish that a bottle and refill are compatible.[2]

The periods above come from the product pages. FANCL also prints its Fresh Period on the box or product, with the location varying by item. Read the manufacturing-date and period information on your own pack, then note when you open it. Time since purchase is not the only date to check.[1][2][4]

My bottle record
Full product name: ______
Opened on: ______
Use-by date checked against the pack: ______
Foam bottle refilled: 0 / 1 / 2 times

This is an editorial reminder, not an extra manufacturer guarantee. If you alternate several cleansers or leave one at a home you rarely visit, consider whether you will finish it in time. An estimate of around 60 washes is not permission to extend the opening period when you use it less often. FANCL advises against using a product beyond its Fresh Period.[1][2][5]

Keep all three foam-refill instructions together

  1. Use the specified bottle: the current Japanese directions name the used “ピュアモイスト 泡洗顔料c” container.
  2. Do not wash that container before refilling: FANCL specifically says to reuse it without washing.
  3. Replace the bottle after two refills: think “new bottle → refill one → refill two → new bottle.”[2]

The second instruction belongs to this particular refill system. It is not a rule for every foam cleanser, every FANCL product or every bottle version. If a container is dirty, damaged or impossible to identify, ask the manufacturer rather than treating it as an eligible bottle.

Lathering and makeup removal are different decisions

The powder adds a lathering step; the foam removes that preparation step. FANCL provides separate palm-lathering and net-lathering lessons for its powder. A net is not a compulsory purchase in this guide, and another cleanser’s amount or contact time should not be transferred to these products.[3]

Both product pages place face washing after makeup removal. Check the removal directions for your makeup and sunscreen rather than assuming that the English word “cleanser” means all waterproof products will come off. Nor does choosing these two formats mean you need to wash once with each.[1][2][8]

Do not keep using a product just to finish the bottle

These are general cosmetic precautions, not a replacement for the complete instructions on your pack. Use clean hands and tools, and avoid skin with wounds, eczema or other abnormalities. If redness, swelling, itching, irritation, pale patches or darkening develops during or after use, stop, rinse off and seek dermatological advice promptly. Do not keep testing the product on irritated skin.[6][7]

Keep cleanser out of your eyes. If it enters an eye, do not rub; rinse thoroughly with water or lukewarm water. Seek eye care if pain, blurred vision or a foreign-body sensation remains. An unusual smell, appearance or skin reaction matters even inside the 60- or 120-day window; the date is not a safety guarantee under every storage condition.[8]

Irene’s selection order: choose the preparation you will actually follow, then check the opening period and bottle-care commitment. You do not need to open both formats to complete a skincare set.
