LUCIDO-L hair oils in Japan: choose between five 60 mL EX variants

LUCIDO-L Japanese hair oils: whole Frizz Care and Repair representative packages Japan Drugstore Guides

Choose LUCIDO-L hair oil by the finish you want: pink EX Hair Oil for a light, smooth feel; orange-gold Rich Moisture for dryness and manageability; blue Repair for rough-feeling damaged hair; mint-green Sheer Gloss for shine or a wet look; and magenta Frizz Care for waves and humidity-related unruliness. This guide compares the five Japanese 60 mL leave-in EX oils.

Irene

I’m Irene, a Taiwanese pharmacist working in Japan. When every box says ARGAN RICH OIL, it helps to decide what you want your hair to feel and look like before choosing a colour. Let’s match that goal to the full product name, then keep application simple.

Use colour to find it, then check the name

This comparison covers the Japanese products shown here. Overseas names, fragrance descriptions and formulas may differ. Match the Japanese name and 60 mL size rather than assuming that every Argan Rich Oil product is interchangeable.

Pink: EX Hair Oil for a light, smooth finish

Japanese name: #EXヘアオイル. 60 mL; JAN 4902806407211. Image: Mandom Corporation / PR TIMES.

Mandom positions the classic oil for light, smooth ends and less tangling and friction. It is a useful starting point if you want smoother hair without deliberately creating a wet-look style.

Orange-gold: Rich Moisture for a more moisturized, controlled finish

Japanese name: #EXヘアオイル リッチモイスチャー. 60 mL; JAN 4902806434996. Image: Mandom Corporation / PR TIMES.

This version emphasizes moisture and manageability for hair that feels dry. Between pink and orange-gold, ask whether your priority is a lighter finish or more help with dryness and unruly lengths. Rich Moisture is not automatically the better choice for everyone.

Blue: Repair for rough-feeling, damaged hair

Japanese name: #EXヘアリペアオイル. 60 mL; JAN 4902806100587. Image: Mandom Corporation / PR TIMES.

The maker positions this gel-like oil for concentrated cosmetic care of damaged hair and a softer feel. Consider it when roughness after colouring or styling is your main concern. “Repair” does not promise permanently restored split ends.

Mint green: Sheer Gloss for shine or a wet-look style

Japanese name: #EXヘアオイル シアーグロス. 60 mL; JAN 4902806105308. Image: Mandom Corporation / PR TIMES.

Shine is the clearest reason to choose this variant, which can also create a wet-look finish. If you only want a little smoothness and prefer your hair not to look wet, resist adding more simply because it is labelled Gloss.

Magenta: Frizz Care for waves and humidity-related unruliness

Japanese name: #EXヘアオイル うねり・くせケア. 60 mL; JAN 4902806115949. Image: Mandom Corporation / PR TIMES.

This gel-like oil targets waves and unruliness, with a humidity-guard formulation intended to help maintain hair straightened with an iron. It is not permanent straightening. If you enjoy your natural curls, a straighter result need not be your goal.

Irene’s practical tip: if your biggest worry is flat-looking hair, consider placement and amount alongside the variant. Distribute the oil through mid-lengths and ends rather than concentrating it at the roots. Even a light-finish product may feel heavier than you want if you apply too much.

Check the scent again when repurchasing

All five current Japanese products are labelled Clear Floral, combining fresh fruity notes with freesia. The range underwent a fragrance update in 2025. If you are repurchasing for a scent you remember, check the fragrance description on the actual pack as well as its colour and barcode.

All five contain fragrance. They are formulated hair-care products, not bottles of pure argan oil, and their ingredient lists differ. Check the individual complete list if you have a known reaction to an ingredient.

After washing: spread it through mid-lengths and ends

The current manufacturer application cards for all five show this pre-blow-dry approach:

  1. Towel-dry after washing so your hair is damp rather than dripping.
  2. Spread a small portion thoroughly over your palms. Work from the inner layers of your hair, finger-combing through mid-lengths and ends.
  3. The maker illustrates one or two pumps at a time, with about three pumps in total for medium-to-long hair. That is a medium-to-long-hair example, not a required amount for every length and thickness, or three pumps for each section.
  4. A comb can help distribute the product evenly. Blow-dry afterwards. These are leave-in oils, so do not rinse them out as you would a hair mask.

On your first use, notice how the ends feel once dry before deciding whether they need more. If your hair already feels oily or clumps together more than you want, stop adding product rather than immediately layering another variant.

Dry-hair finishing, and the extra step for Sheer Gloss

All five may be used on dry hair. The official finishing example is one or two pumps spread over your palms, then applied lightly to the ends or surface. Adjust to your hair and desired finish rather than treating the number as a target.

For a wet look with Sheer Gloss: begin with that light application, then add one pump at a time towards the finish you want, taking care not to overapply. This is a styling option, not a requirement for every oil or every use.

The maker also describes applying a suitable amount thinly before using tools such as curling or straightening irons. Hair oil is not a reason to turn up the heat or repeatedly pass over the same section. Follow your styling tool’s instructions.

What “repair” and humidity care can mean for your hair

These oils provide cosmetic care for smoother, softer, shinier or more manageable hair. Repair and Frizz Care contain an ingredient the maker describes as working with styling heat; that does not establish that higher temperatures give better results. Do not expect treatment of hair loss or scalp disease, or a permanent change to your natural curl pattern.

If your main problem is persistent scalp itching, redness or broken skin, address that rather than adding more oil. Stop using the product and consult a dermatologist if redness, swelling, itching, irritation, pale patches or darkening appears during use, or after sun exposure following use. Do not apply to wounds, eczema or other abnormal skin.

Quick questions

Does fine hair always need the pink one?

The classic pink oil’s light-finish positioning makes it a reasonable option to compare, but no variant guarantees that your hair will never look flat. Amount, placement and the finish you want matter too.

Should I buy several and layer them?

Start with the one that best matches your main need. That makes it easier to understand the amount and finish you like. The five colours are choices, not a five-step routine.

Can a 60 mL bottle simply be mailed home by air?

Do not decide by volume alone. Mandom currently identifies classic EX Hair Oil and Rich Moisture as dangerous goods for air shipment. Give the carrier the exact product name and check what it accepts. This is shipping information; passenger cabin and checked baggage need separate confirmation with the airline. It does not establish a blanket baggage permission or ban.
