Rohto C3 Premium: Clear, Moisture, Fit or Ice Spark?

Rohto C3 Premium Clear, Moisture, Fit and Ice Spark cartons and bottles Japan Drugstore Guides

If you wear coloured or circle lenses, rule out Clear while the lenses are in. If you also want a product to apply to lenses before insertion, Fit is the only one of these four with that additional use. For dryness without a cooling sensation, start with Moisture. For tired eyes while wearing ordinary, non-coloured lenses, compare Clear. If you prefer intense cooling, look at Ice Spark.

I’m Irene, a Taiwan-born, Japan-licensed pharmacist working in a Japanese drugstore. Check your lens type first, then decide whether you need drops while wearing lenses or something to help put them in. That makes these four boxes much easier to tell apart.

Product information checked: 11 October 2026 · Japanese-market versions.

This guide covers the current Japanese C3 Premium products. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if you have severe eye pain, are receiving medical treatment, have a history of allergic reactions to medicines or similar substances, or have been diagnosed with glaucoma.

8+

All four list eye fatigue, discomfort while wearing contact lenses, and blurred vision such as when there is excess eye discharge. Clear is not the only option with an eye-fatigue indication. However, its indications do not include tear supplementation, an important distinction when dryness is your main concern.

Current official information allows Moisture, Fit and Ice Spark with coloured lenses; Clear specifically excludes them. Follow your lenses’ instructions too. If lenses cause pain or persistent discomfort, stop wearing them and see an eye doctor rather than relying on another bottle of drops.

Cooling ratings describe sensation, not comparative effectiveness. A rating of 0 cannot guarantee that irritation or an allergic reaction will never occur.

Match the full Japanese name on the shelf

All four are 18 mL Japanese Class 3 OTC medicines. Colour helps you find the box, but check the complete name and JAN barcode before buying.

Japanese product name: ロートCキューブプレミアムクリア

Look for Clear and クリア. This is the one that must not be used while wearing coloured lenses.

Japanese product name: ロートCキューブプレミアムモイスチャー
JAN barcode: 4987241162031

Look for Moisture and モイスチャー, with a cooling rating of 0.

Fit: blue box

Japanese product name: ロートCキューブプレミアムフィット
JAN barcode: 4987241162024

Look for Fit and フィット, plus the instructions for use as a lens-insertion aid.

Ice Spark: black box

Japanese product name: ロートCキューブプレミアムアイススパーク
JAN barcode: 4987241190980

Look for Ice Spark and アイススパーク. Rohto prints the precautions inside the carton rather than enclosing a separate leaflet, so read and keep the box.

Which ingredient differences matter?

Clear: focusing function and corneal protection

Clear contains neostigmine methylsulfate 0.005%, described by Rohto as helping the eye’s focusing function. It also contains retinol palmitate, or vitamin A, at 30,000 units per 100 mL. Rohto describes its role in repairing minor corneal damage caused by rubbing from contact lenses and similar causes.

Other actives include natural-form vitamin E, taurine and chondroitin sulfate sodium. These features help explain its eye-fatigue positioning, but do not make the drops a substitute for assessment of an eye injury or persistent blurred vision.

Moisture and Ice Spark: the same five actives and concentrations

Their current Japanese information lists the following:

Active ingredientConcentration in both products
Chondroitin sulfate sodium0.5%
Potassium chloride0.15%
Sodium chloride0.4%
Hypromellose0.25%
Glucose0.09%

Rohto describes hypromellose as retaining moisture, chondroitin sulfate sodium as protecting the cornea, and the salts as supplementing minerals found in tears. For these two products, cooling ratings of 0 and 8+ are a practical way to narrow your choice. Ice Spark also lists menthol among its additives. Matching actives do not make the complete formulations identical, or establish that stronger cooling provides better treatment.

Both list sesame oil as an additive, not another active ingredient. Ask a pharmacist to check the complete formula if you have a relevant allergy history.

Fit: a different formula with an additional insertion use

Fit’s actives include povidone 0.3%, hypromellose 0.15%, potassium chloride, sodium chloride and glucose. Rohto describes povidone as forming a moisture cushion between the eye and lens during insertion.

If you want one bottle for use before putting lenses in as well as later eye drops, Fit’s two labelled uses are the key distinction. Moisture and Ice Spark can be used with lenses in place, but their instructions do not include Fit’s lens-insertion use.

Eye drops and lens insertion have separate directions

All four used as eye drops

The current Japanese dose is the same for Clear, Moisture, Fit and Ice Spark: 1–3 drops per application, 5–6 times a day. Follow the instructions supplied with your product. Do not add extra doses for more cooling or temporary comfort.

  1. Wash your hands and check compatibility with the lenses you are wearing.
  2. Keep the nozzle away from your eyes, eyelids and eyelashes when applying the drops.
  3. Close the cap promptly. Do not share the bottle or transfer its contents to another container.

Moisture and Ice Spark also warn that their viscosity may briefly blur vision after application. Stop and seek advice if blurred vision does not improve.

Only Fit can be used on lenses before insertion

Wash your hands and complete any cleaning required by your lens instructions. Use 1–2 drops to wet both sides of the lens, then insert it. This is the labelled amount per application, not an extra 1–2 drops on each side. Keep the nozzle away from the lens and your fingers.

A lens-insertion aid does not clean, disinfect or store lenses. Fit does not replace the lens-care routine. The other three must not be used to clean or store lenses either.

When to stop, children and storage

Do not wait for a time limit if problems develop

For all four, stop immediately and take the leaflet or carton to a doctor or pharmacist if you develop a skin rash, redness or itching, or eye redness, itching, swelling or stinging pain. Stop and seek advice if blurred vision does not improve.

For symptoms that remain unimproved, the instructions give different limits:

  • Clear: stop and seek advice after 5–6 days without improvement.
  • Moisture, Fit and Ice Spark: stop and seek advice after about 2 weeks without improvement.

These are consultation limits, not a course you must finish or expiry periods after opening. Severe eye pain, changes in vision or persistent lens-related discomfort need prompt medical assessment.

Check suitability for children individually

The four current Japanese instructions require parent or guardian supervision and give no numerical minimum age. This does not mean they suit every age. Rohto’s general FAQ says children should be able to describe their symptoms and how the drops feel. Ask a pharmacist before choosing a product for a child, especially one with intense cooling.

Use promptly after opening and follow your pack

Store in a cool place away from sunlight and children. Avoid temperatures of 40°C or above, such as in a hot car or beside a heater. Do not share, transfer or add anything to the liquid. Do not use expired liquid or liquid with cloudiness or floating particles. Ice Spark’s bottle has a deliberately cloudy-looking design; this is different from cloudiness developing in the liquid.

After opening, use promptly according to your product’s instructions, and do not exceed the printed expiry date. Guidelines can differ by product and version, so do not apply one bottle’s time limit to the whole range. The 5–6 days and approximately 2 weeks above are not storage periods.

Three checks before buying

First, check your lenses: rule out Clear while wearing coloured lenses. Next, check when you want to use the product: Fit is the option with a lens-insertion use. Then consider your main symptoms and cooling preference: compare Moisture, Fit and Ice Spark for dryness, and consider Clear’s formula and lens restrictions for eye fatigue too.

Show the pharmacist your lens type, when you want to use the drops and the full product name. That is more useful than choosing by colour alone. Persistent discomfort deserves an eye examination.
