For MINON whole-body wash in Japan, choose by washing routine—not by a “stronger versus weaker” ranking. Start with Shittori for a moisturized after-wash feel, Saratto for a lighter feel when dryness and oiliness coexist, or Foam for ready-made lather without added fragrance.

I’m Irene, a Taiwanese pharmacist working in Japanese drugstores. This guide separates skin-feel preferences, fragrance and dispensing format so you can identify the right Japanese bottle and refill. About Irene
Japanese official information checked October 22, 2026 (Japan time). Covers the three 全身シャンプー washes, not MINON Baby, dedicated medicated hair shampoo or AminoMoist masks.
A practical decision matrix
| Your priority | Start here | Important trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Dry skin; richer after-wash feel | しっとりタイプ — Shittori | Light soap-type fragrance; needs lathering |
| Dryness plus oiliness; lighter feel | さらっとタイプ — Saratto | Light green-tea fragrance; not an acne treatment |
| Wash with your palms; no lathering step | 泡タイプ — Foam | Fragrance-free; match the refill to the foam bottle |
The manufacturer’s selection FAQ supports these starting points. Foam describes the delivery format; it does not establish that the product is weaker. Likewise, a lighter finish does not prove that Saratto is harsher.
Shittori / Moist

Positioned for dry, flaky skin. Choose it when a moisturized after-wash feel matters and you do not mind a mild soap-type scent. Bottles: 120mL and 450mL. Refills: 380mL and 800mL.
Saratto / Light

Positioned for combination skin with dryness, oiliness and acne concerns, and for people who prefer a lighter feel. It contains fragrance. This positioning is not a reason to replace treatment for inflamed spots with a cleanser.
Foam

Dispenses lather for palm washing and contains no added fragrance. It is a different product from ミノンベビー全身シャンプー, even though both are foaming washes.
What the Japanese “medicated” label does—and does not—mean
All three are Japanese quasi-drugs (医薬部外品). Saratto and Foam list skin cleansing and prevention of acne, shaving irritation and rough skin among their approved functions; Shittori emphasizes preventing rough skin. These are preventive cleanser claims, not promises to treat eczema, existing inflammatory acne or persistent itching.
“Low irritation” does not mean a reaction is impossible. Manufacturer precautions say not to use on wounds, swelling, eczema or other abnormal areas. Stop and consult a dermatologist if redness, swelling, itching, irritation, white patches or darkening occurs, including similar changes after sunlight exposure.
Use the correct lathering method
- Shittori: wet a sponge or gauze with warm water, lather a suitable amount, wash and rinse thoroughly.
- Saratto: wet a towel or similar washing aid with warm water, work the wash into a lather, cleanse and rinse well.
- Foam: dispense a suitable amount, wash the skin and rinse thoroughly with water or warm water.
The official FAQ also permits all three on the face, scalp and hair. Wet hair and scalp before washing and rinse thoroughly. That does not establish conditioning performance or waterproof-makeup removal. If product enters the eyes, rinse immediately; consult an eye doctor if a foreign-body sensation remains.
Buying for a visit versus living in Japan
For a first purchase or a shorter stay: Shittori has an official 120mL bottle. Do not assume the other versions have the same small size. Availability varies by shop; this guide does not claim live local stock.
For repeat purchases: photograph the full Japanese name on your bottle. Match that name before buying a pouch marked つめかえ用 (“refill”). A refill pouch is not a pump-bottle starter kit. Match 泡タイプ explicitly rather than buying by color or volume alone.
To compare two sizes of the same version, calculate shelf price ÷ mL × 100 for cost per 100mL. That calculation cannot determine which different formula costs less per wash because usage and format differ. The manufacturer does not set a suggested retail price for these washes, so check the shop’s price.
Store out of infants’ reach, away from direct sunlight and extreme heat or cold. Use promptly after opening, as directed on the manufacturer’s page.
