Choose the application format first, then the formula and scent. Ban’s two 40mL roll-ons need to dry before you dress; its 20g Premium stick is a solid with a different active-ingredient combination. “Platinum” is not a medical strength rating.

I’m Irene, a Taiwan-born, Japan-licensed pharmacist working in a Japanese drugstore. This label-based guide explains current Japanese Ban products and safe application. It is not a personal wear test.

Three current packs—not three strength levels
Platinum Roll-on · 40mL

Consider this liquid option when resistance to underarm rubbing matters to you: Lion highlights its adhesion-focused formula. The Japanese sales name is バン プレミアムプラチナロールオンA. It comes in 無香性 and せっけんの香り (soap scent).
Premium Roll-on · 40mL

The other liquid option, also offered in 無香性 and soap scent. Its sales name is バン プレミアムゴールドロールオンA. Both roll-ons list aluminium chlorohydrate and isopropyl methylphenol as active ingredients; that does not establish identical formulas or concentrations.
Premium Stick · 20g

Choose this if you prefer applying a solid rather than liquid. The sales name is バン プレミアムゴールドスティックA; its scent label is 無香性. Active ingredients are aluminium chlorohydrate, benzalkonium chloride and zinc oxide. Do not treat it as merely the roll-on poured into a different container.
Read 無香性 carefully
無香性 is not the same claim as no added fragrance. The official ingredient lists include 香料 (fragrance), and Lion describes an odour-harmonising fragrance. If you are avoiding a fragrance ingredient because of previous reactions, do not select solely by the front label. Check the full ingredient list with a pharmacist or the manufacturer.
Application: clean skin, correct amount, no rushing
The two roll-ons
- Wipe away underarm sweat. Remove the cap and briefly invert the bottle so liquid reaches the ball.
- Apply an appropriate amount evenly over the underarm area. If crystals prevent the ball moving, Lion says to turn it with a finger before use.
- Wait until the applied film has dried before putting clothes on. Close the cap securely.
The stick
- Use on clean, dry underarms. Twist up about 1cm; extending too far can break the stick.
- Apply evenly without pressing harder to chase a stronger effect. Replace the cap and protect the stick from drops.
The products can be washed off gently with soap or body wash. Waterproof does not mean permanent. This guide does not recommend layering all three or invent a maximum number of daily applications.
When not to apply
Avoid the face and mucous membranes. Do not apply immediately after hair removal, or on wounds, swelling, eczema or other abnormal skin. If redness, swelling, itching, irritation, pale patches or darkening develops, stop and consult a doctor, taking the product with you. Keep away from high heat and direct sunlight, avoid contact with clothing and delicate surfaces, and store where accidental swallowing is prevented.
All three are Japanese quasi-drugs labelled for perspiration control and body/underarm odour. This is not evidence of permanent odour removal or treatment for hyperhidrosis. If sweating is disrupting daily life, seek clinical advice rather than repeatedly adding more product.
