When buying light-leakage liners in Japan, check the intended use first, then read cc and cm separately. cc describes the labelled absorption amount; cm describes length. Two 3cc liners can be different lengths. Similar-looking menstrual pads, discharge liners and urine-care products are not automatically interchangeable.

I’m Irene, a Taiwan-born, Japan-licensed pharmacist. This guide separates intended use, absorption labels and length so you can identify a pack without trying to diagnose the cause of leakage.
Japanese official information checked: 23 October 2026, Japan time. This comparison covers the unscented Japanese-market products below, not the complete ranges, men’s products, pull-up pants or products for larger leaks.
Start with the job, not the word “pantyliner”
The Japanese term パンティライナー alone does not tell you what a liner is designed to absorb. These Charmnap Kyusui Sarafi and Poise Sarasara Suhada products carry an absorption label, and their official descriptions also cover discharge and moisture. That does not make every ordinary discharge liner suitable for urine leakage.
| Japanese label | What to check |
|---|---|
| 尿もれ・尿ケア・吸水ケア | Look for urine-care use, then match the full product name and cc figure. |
| おりもの | Vaginal discharge. If you need urine absorption, confirm that additional intended use on the exact product. |
| 生理用ナプキン | A menstrual pad. It has a different intended use; a similar length is not a reason to substitute it for urine-care products, or vice versa. |
Same 3cc label, different lengths

The comparison uses the regular 17.5cm, 40-liner pack, not the shorter コンパクト version. The brand page also lists an 80-liner pack; check the count separately.
Poise 3cc, unscented

This is the 14.5cm, 44-liner product. Packs marked ロング (long) or a different cc amount are not the same version.
| Confirmed Japanese version | Absorption label / length | Pack used here |
|---|---|---|
| Charmnap 3cc, unscented | 3cc / 17.5cm | 40 liners JAN 4903111504077 |
| Poise 3cc, unscented | 3cc / 14.5cm | 44 liners Product code 4901750883836 |
| Charmnap 10cc, unscented long liner | 10cc / 19cm | 28 liners JAN 4903111554102 |
The first two both say 3cc, yet differ by 3cm. A longer liner does not necessarily have a higher labelled absorption amount. The 10cc example changes both capacity and length, so it cannot establish a winning brand.

cc is a volume unit, not a wear-time promise
One cc equals one mL. Here the number is the manufacturer’s absorption label, a selection guide rather than a count of leaks, a medical severity grade or a guarantee of dry hours. Charmnap’s FAQ says to consider the situation, your condition and changing intervals alongside the pack’s urine-volume indication.
This guide has not established a common, fully documented absorption test for the two brands. The same cc label is therefore not proof of identical performance while worn, and 10cc cannot be converted into a multiple of the wear time for 3cc. If underwear is still getting wet, or a liner shifts or feels uncomfortable, reassess the fit, placement and product rather than continuing to wear it because of the number.
Change it when needed; do not try to “use up” the number
Poise recommends cloth underwear and prompt replacement after a pad becomes soiled. Its product instructions say not to stick the adhesive directly to skin or wash the liner, and to consult a doctor if it does not suit your skin. These instructions do not establish a universal safe number of hours. “Unscented” is not a guarantee against irritation or allergy.
Read the precautions on your own pack rather than transferring another brand’s instructions wholesale. Poise says to keep opened packs hygienic, protected from dust and insects, and away from high heat. Keep spares clean when carrying them. Neither brand’s liners should go in the toilet: wrap used products and follow local disposal rules.
A liner can absorb urine; it cannot explain the cause
You can discuss leakage with a doctor without waiting for it to become severe. The NHS advises seeking medical advice for any type of urinary incontinence. Absorbent products can help with day-to-day management, but they are not treatment and the cc you buy does not identify a diagnosis.
It may help to note when leakage occurs, whether it follows a sudden urge, and whether your current product leaks onto underwear. You do not need to classify the condition yourself before asking for help. If the fluid is menstrual blood or unexplained discharge, changing absorption products is not a way to determine what is happening.
Four checks before paying
- Does the full Japanese name match the urine-absorption use I need?
- Have I read cc and cm separately rather than judging the pack’s size?
- Is this the intended unscented version, length and liner count?
- Have I read this pack’s changing, skin-care and disposal precautions?
